I'm not prone to quoting politicians, but when Prime Minister Harold Macmillan (1957–1963) was asked about the greatest obstacle to political achievement he is said to have answered: 'Events, dear boy, events.'
We don't feel that way at the FSA. The events we organise provide an opportunity to thrash out difficult issues and keep up to date with the latest science and evidence. We do, however, aim to ensure that they are worth attending and provide value for money.
In September, we held an event to launch my Chief Scientist's Annual Report.
Sarah O’Brien, Professor of Infection Epidemiology and Zoonoses at the University of Liverpool, gave a speech on how molecular biology tools, such as next generation sequencing, might help us make progress in the investigation of foodborne disease outbreaks.
If you attended the event, or were invited to attend but couldn’t or chose not to, I'd be really grateful if you would fill in our short survey.
